When the St. Louis Rams selected the top offensive tackle Greg Robinson with the second overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. The Rams, secured their left tackle of the future.


Of course the effective and well-compensated Jake Long isn't going anywhere and the Rams appear to be comfortable with Joe Barksdale at right tackle.

On Monday, Rams general manager Les Snead acknowledged that Robinson's NFL career might start on the inside. Indicating that he may begin his NFL career playing guard. When that future actually begins remains to be seen.

Snead told SiriusXM Radio."The goal is to get the five best guys out there on the offensive line and he might play guard,"

In the offseason the Rams were able re-signed Rodger Saffold entrenched at right guard, in retrospect that means Robinson should be lining up next to Long at left tackle -- a shoulder-to-shoulder student program, if you will. But on the other hand Saffold is injury prone and that might 

In all the former Auburn standout Robinson presents insurance at tackle or an answer at guard.  if the Rams were to encounter trouble with Long or Barksdale.

It's a great treat for a head coach Jeff Fisher to have.
