With star linebacker Von Miller coming back from his right-knee injury, and new addition defensive end Demarcus Ware, expectations are seemingly high for the Denver Broncos pass rush for the 2014-15 season. The main focus for them should be to stay healthy which didn't happen last season. Last season, the Broncos were tied at 13th for most sacks in the NFL. The acquisition of Ware will hopefully help them become one of the most intimidating pass rushes in all of football. In a recent interview with Associated Press AP Pro Football Writer Arnie Stapleton, Ware made the following statements:
''Between two guys (Ware and Miller), we want to have as many sacks as one team.I really don't have personal goals, I'd love to be a part of the tandem that was the best in the league ever.''
Last season, every single team in the NFL collected at least 31 team sacks and Ware's expectations are higher than that. With their expectations being so high, both Ware and Miller will have to bounce back from arguably their worst seasons in their career. According to Stapleton, Ware was released by the Cowboys this past winter for a salary cap move after only getting a career-low six sacks last season.
After the release, he then underwent surgery on his right elbow in February, then signed a three-year, $30 million deal with the Broncos. Von Miller also recently underwent surgery this past January and had to watch the Super Bowl from the sideline.Denver's pass rush will not be all on Miller's and Ware's shoulders, as new acquisition defensive tackle Marvin Austin, Derek Wolfe and company will also help carry the load and put some more pressure on the quarterbacks.
With new secondary acquisitions in safety T.J. Ward and cornerback Aqib Talib, the Broncos secondary will be much more improved and as long as the pressure is on the quarterback the Broncos will look to force more interceptions in 2014. Last season, the Broncos were 12th in the NFL in team interceptions, but with their new high hopes expect to crack the top ten.
