The Carolina Panthers decide to build their defensive front and select defensive tackle Star Lotulelei out of Utah with the No 14. overall pick.

Lotulelei led his team with 11 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks in 2012.  The star senior defensive tackle also racked up three forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries (T-2nd in the nation) and four pass breakups.

The Panthers are searching for more playmakers, Lotulelei is a low-risk, high-reward prospect that will greatly improve this defense in the trenches. At his March 20 Pro Day, Lotulelei pumped 38 bench reps, ran 5.15 in the forty, and performed a 30-inch vertical leap.

The Panthers have virtually nothing at the defensive tackle position, other than re-signing Dwan Edwards during  free agency, but now they get their man to upgrade their defensive line.
