Knowshown Moreno has found a new home. The Dolphins and Moreno have agreed on a one year deal worth $3 million.

Knowshown was taken 12th overall in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft. The 27 year old spent his first five years with the Denver Broncos.

Moreno brings the Dolphins something they desperately lacked all last year. Some depth at the running back position. The Dolphins as a team ranked 26th rushing the ball, averaging only 90 yards a game in 2013. In part due to their anemic offensive line and their less than stellar running backs.

Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas spilt time last year in the Dolphins backfield and together they combined to rush for 1,115 yards.

While Moreno isn’t Mr. Consistent either, having had the best year of his 5 year career last year.  Rushing for 1,038 yards and 10 touchdowns. Not to mention 60 receptions for 548 yards, adding three touch downs in the air to boot. Moreno is still an upgrade at the position and should help Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Tannehill was sacked 58 times last year, not quite breaking the record set by David Carr in 2002, when he was sacked 76 times. But, enough to raise some flags and dump pretty much their entire offensive line. That is where Moreno comes in, one of his best assets his ability to pass block, something that starting running backs Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller weren’t very good at in 2013, to say the least.

Knowshown will more than likely take the starting job from Miller and Thomas and have the chance to prove himself, on this one year deal.

Hopefully Moreno can stay healthy, having only played two full season in his five year career. If he can, and if the Dolphins at least mostly solidify their offensive line, maybe he helps them win that division. Two big ifs, but crazier things have happened.
