The Jacksonville Jaguars will likely name Chad Henne the starting quarterback heading into the season. His contract is bigger and the team already announced he would start the entire regular season days after drafting Henne.
Blake Bortles is busting his behind in the 2014 NFL Preseason and looks like a solid rookie to start in the 2014 NFL Regular Season. Bortles played for Central Florida last season before the Jaguars took him third overall in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Jacksonville gets 2 road games against NFC East foes like the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Redskins to begin the season. Having only one home game in the month of September against the reigning AFC South Champion Indianapolis Colts doesn't help either.
Jacksonville hosts the Pittsburgh Steelers in week 5 and travels to the Tennessee Titans in week 6. If Jake Locker is injured by week 6, this is a winnable contest. If Bortles is named the starter in October after an 0-4 start, he could ignite the Jaguars' fanbase by throwing touchdowns and giving the Jaguars a reason to believe.
In week 7 the Jaguars host the Cleveland Browns. I hope Johnny Manziel and Blake Bortles both make their starting debuts in this week. Watching the first two quarterbacks that were drafted in the 2014 NFL Draft play against each other to begin their careers would make for one of the better matchups in the NFL.
The Jaguars do not have a bye week until week 11. Even if the Jaguars go 0-10 and refuse to start Bortles, they will start Bortles on the road against the Colts by the time the bye week is over. The demand to bench Bortles the entire season is simply too great to ignore after watching him light it up in the preseason so far.
