The New York Jets have a plethora of quarterbacks on their roster, not because they are trying to find their starter, but because some of their quarterbacks have recently gone down with injuries. Rex Ryan has yet to name a starter for week one, but that no longer seems to be an issue.

Mark Sanchez injured his right shoulder during a preseason game against the New York Giants, and may not be ready to play come week one. Geno Smith is next in line to start for week one and is one of the few uninjured quarterbacks on the Jets roster. According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Jets OC Marty Mornhinweg is in favor of starting Geno Smith "even if Mark Sanchez is healthy."

According to sources, John Idzik and Ryan share a mutual agreement that they would both like to see Smith step up and claim the starting quarterback position for the Jets. Graham Harrell was recently added to the Jets roster after Greg McElroy went down with an injury.

The Jets organization is hoping Smith performs well week one which would more than likely solidify his job as the starting quarterback.
