Green Bay Packers Come to Terms with Multiple Rookies
As the Green Bay Packers open their 2013 rookie camp this weekend, several of the rookies the Pack drafted have signed their rookie tender contracts. A player of note who has yet to sign is Alabama running back Eddie Lacey, who fell to Green Bay after concerns regarding a toe injury scared off teams previously interested in the former Crimson Tide workhorse.
One of the rookies Green Bay was able to come to terms with and who will be participating in rookie camp this weekend is UCLA running back Johnathan Franklin. Franklin, who was a top-5 rated running back on NFL Draft Insiders big board, will be competing with both Lacey along with James Sparks, Alex Green, and DaJuan Harris for playing time.
Other rookies of note who have recently signed with the Packers and will be in camp this weekend include linebackers Nate Palmer and Sam Barrington, and offensive linemen J.C. Tretter and David Bakhtiari. Palmer will be moved from the defensive line to linebacker, and hopes to contribute both on defense and special teams during his rookie campaign. The Packers intend on moving Bryan Bulaga to the right side of the offensive line, opening up an opportunity for additional playing time for Bakhitari, a Colorado product.
