Elite wide receiver Victor Cruz is a restricted free agent this season and has been trying to discuss a long term contract with the New York Giants since last season. He hasn’t had much luck.

Star quarterback Eli Manning is all in for Cruz to be signed long term, and hopefully put the Giants in position to win more championships. Manning has even gone to the extent of reconstructing his contract in order for Cruz to get himself a long term one.

Giants are trying to free up cap space, they are looking forward to resigning guard Kevin Boothe. Manning is due $13 million this year and his contract is up in 2015. Eli will be very satisfied if his agent and Giants can work out a deal with Cruz. Manning has been keeping in touch with Cruz and superstar receiver Hakeem Nicks.

Since Cruz was a previous first round pick, the Giants do have the right to match any teams offer sheet Cruz receives. If the Giants do not choose to match an offer sheet, they will respectively receive a first round pick.
