Chargers Select D.J Fluker to Help With Offensive Line Woes
With the 11th pick in the 2013 draft, the San Diego Chargers selected D.J Fluker, OT from Alabama.
In a draft that saw five offensive linemen selected in the first ten picks, the desperate San Diego Chargers moved quickly following the Titans pickup of Chance Warmack to grab Fluker who was next best linemen on the board.
Although Fluker is not the prototypical pass protector the Chargers needed in the first round, the 6’5, 339 pound Fluker brings size and strength to an already beat up offensive line. His skills as a run-blocker will provide help to a weak running attack. Fluker is a solid pick up for the Chargers with upside because of his nastiness and success at Alabama, but he will have to develop those pass blocking skills further in order to keep Phillip Rivers off his back in 2013.
