Buccaneers Add CB Jonathan Banks and QB Mike Glennon to give some competition to Freeman
When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers traded away their first round pick for Darrell Revis, their first selection in the second round was Jonathan Banks, CB Mississippi State.
The Buccaneer’s continue to strengthen their secondary in the offseason by choosing the 6’2 185 back.
Although he needs to develop more strength and coverage skills, Banks is excellent at press coverage, possesses good hands, and does not shy away from contact.
Revis is now the focal point of the secondary, Banks has the opportunity to learn from one of the best.
Sometimes quarterbacks need a reminder they are replaceable if not performing in the NFL, so the Buccaneers decision to draft Quarterback Mike Glennon from North Carolina State in the third round (73rd overall) of the 2013 draft highlights this selection
The 6’7 225 pound Glennon possesses franchise quarterback skills with good vision of the football field and a strong-arm required to make tight throws against NFL backfields but he will need to work on his footwork and mechanics. He will certainly give Josh Freeman a stiff competition if he underperform's in 2013.
