Late Saturday afternoon, rumors began circulating that Notre Dame starting quarterback Everett Golson was no longer enrolled in school. Dennis Brown, spokesperson for the university confirmed to WNDU-TV Saturday evening that Golson has indeed left school, and will not be returning to the football team this fall. "Federal and school privacy laws preclude us from issuing any further comment at this time."

The departure of Golson leaves only three scholarship athletes on the current Fighting Irish football roster. Former blue chip prospect Gunner Kiel transferred to the University of Cincinnati earlier in the spring.

Golson charged onto the college football scene during the 2012 season, leading the Fighting Irish to the BCS National Championship game, where they lost to the University of Alabama.
